What are the Warning Signs of a Cheating Spouse?
"1. A newfound or increased interest in their appearance. This can mean they’re trying
to impress someone. Look for things like a new interest in working out or buying new
underwear.
2. A change in schedule or routine. A cheater will start spending more time away from home and often claim they are working late or hanging out with friends.
3. They’re suffering from ‘mention-itis’. Even if they’re not actually saying anything incriminating, the constant mention of another person is common in the initial stages of infatuation and many cheaters can’t help themselves sometimes. If you’ve been hearing talk of someone no matter how innocent it may seem, this may well be the person your spouse is cheating with or planning to cheat with.
4. Changes in phone habits. For instance needing to take calls privately all of a sudden or being protective of their cell phone when they used to leave it out.
5. Changes in sleep patterns or energy levels. Guilt may be to blame for your partner’s troubled sleep along with anxiety which is common when someone is living a lie and fears getting caught. If your spouse is unusually tired these days it can also be due to the amount of extramarital activity going on alongside of their everyday life with you and your family. More sex can also be the culprit.
6. Spending more time on the internet. This could indicate anything from an online affair to looking for dates to chatting with the person they are involved with.
7. Covering their tracks. By this I mean things like erasing calls off the call display or their cell phone. Deleting emails, text messages and clearing the history on the computer is also a red flag.
8. A lack of sex. If your spouse has lost interest in having sex with you this can indicate that they are getting their needs met elsewhere or could even be a warning that they are no longer attracted to you.
9. An increase in the frequency or quality of sex. Some cheaters will have more sex with their partner or try to overcompensate in bed out of guilt. Other cheaters are on such a high from the cheating and sex with someone new that they’re in a constant state of arousal. This sadly means that they are thinking of the other person while having sex with you.
10. They seem edgy or uncomfortable. Lying is exhausting and can take a toll along with the guilt and the fear of getting caught. This will almost always spill over into their demeanor and the way they behave around you.
11. Insistent on having more privacy than before. This can mean being more protective of their space, car, finances and even laundry. If your partner all of a sudden insists on doing his own laundry he may be trying to hide evidence. This also goes for his car, office, computer, credit card statements, etc.
12. He or she begins picking more fights. This can stem from being edgy as mentioned above and commonly it is also a way that a cheater tries to take the suspicion off of his or her self. And on a deeper level, a cheater may use this tactic to relieve their own guilt by trying to make you out as a bad person.
13. He or she starts buying you gifts. It is not uncommon for a person who is cheating to shower their spouse with gifts and compliments as a way to ease their own guilt. If your partner all of a sudden starts doing this then you’ve got a major red flag on your hands.
14. Car seats have been adjusted or moved. If you and your spouse are the only ones using the car then you know the typical placement of the seats. A change in that indicates that someone else has been in the car. Be especially aware of changes in the backseat as cheaters often use a car as a place to cheat.
15. They create new email accounts. If your spouse has multiple email accounts for no apparent reason then there is a good chance that they are engaging in emailing with someone that they don’t want you to find out about.
16. He or she is constantly distant or daydreaming. If you’ve noticed that your spouse seems to be distant and just ‘not all there’ it is likely because they are distracted by thoughts of someone else or torn about the affair they’re having.
Some of these signs are quite obvious while some others may go on for months before you even realize that they’re just not right. Now that you have the signs you can really begin your quest for the truth.
Some other signs that are far more obvious and should go without saying;
• Lipstick on the collar
• The scent of another on their clothes or skin
• Credit card charges or receipts for restaurants, hotels, gifts
• Sudden change in birth control method or carrying condoms when you don’t use"
